Guys, let me tell you about Traci and Brian. Well. Actually, Jason, a man of few words, actually says it best “Traci and Brian…*pause for pensive thought*…they’re just really, REALLY good people.”
And I mean they just ARE. I had the pleasure of coming to know Traci and Brian as Brian is Jason’s best friend from back home in Anchorage where they worked together as welders. In fact Jason brags about Brian as being the man that taught him everything he knows about welding. Which, if you saw any of Jason’s personal handy work, speaks volumes of both of their talent and skill. Traci is amazing. Incredibly smart, thoughtful, insightful, sensitive, caring and hard working (seriously what is up with these Alaskans and their insane work ethic, btw?), she’s the most perfect compliment to Brian. Did I mention that in addition to her full time job, she’s also a professional wedding florist too? Yeah She is. These two have been through a lot together. 13 years and oh yeah an 11 year old son who also happens to be amazing, and they decided to finally go for it and celebrate their amazing love story with their closest friends and family.
We made the trek up to AK, hitched up the trailer to Jason’s brother-in-law’s Dodge Ram 2500 (thanks Nate and Sarah!) and headed out to Wasilla for this weekend long love filled extravaganza. This wedding was one of those all hands on deck situations, which is SO amazing to see–siblings, cousins, friends, relatives, all assembled on Friday night to load in, cook, bake cupcakes, design florals, style, and personally attend to every single detail of this wedding.
Traci personally sourced all these incredible textural florals from various wholesalers around Anchorage. Combined with all the pieces of antique and thrifted china, vases bowls and other charming vessels, Traci’s floral design partner, Annie, took the lead on floral design and styling, with Traci’s sisters and niece all working together to pull of every single floral arrangement, bouquet, and boutonniere. The morning of the wedding Brian, Jason and Kari hoisted this phenomenal floral chandelier up into the air which hung suspended from the ceremony space, illuminated from the inside by an existing hanging light fixture.
They chose to host this amazing celebration at The Gathering Place in Wasilla. This new to the scene wedding venue was spectacular–incredible guest house for the couple and their families to stay in for the weekend, and designated camper and trailer parking for the rest of the guests to camp in for the weekend! Oh Alaska, how I love you.
Because this story is so grand, I’ve actually had to split it up into two parts! Part one is preparations, first look and the incredibly intimate ceremony. Part two will be portraits, details and party time! Let’s get to it!!
Ladies and Gentlemen! Traci and Brian at the Gathering Place!
Part II of Traci and Brian up next!
