I'm all about letting things happen naturally, embracing the elements and not sweating the small stuff.
It's okay if the bottom of your dress gets a little dirty. We won't worry too much if the wind blows your hair around a bit. Rain is okay. It's just water. Cloudy days are romantic.
Here's a little more info on myself, my approach and what to expect.
What Are Your Rates?
I believe in pricing that is simple to understand and flexible to customize to your exact needs. My rates begin at 4300, which includes complete wedding day coverage, a complimentary engagement session and fully edited high resolution jpegs with reprinting rights. Add ons and a la carte options include albums, second photographer, rehearsal dinner coverage, adventure location engagement session and a few other fun goodies. You can read more about service options here. For full details shoot me an email and schedule a consult!
Do You Travel?
Totally. One of the best parts of my job is getting to travel to see the places that inspire my couples’ hearts. I’m always up for an adventure and am inspired by new places. In additional to my regular pricing for New England area weddings, I have special pricing in place for weddings and elopements wherever your hearts take you. Just ask!
Do We Need a Second Photographer?
This is probably the most #1 asked question during consultations! The great news here is–there’s honestly no right or wrong. I have a second photographer available as an option add on to your crafted service. A second photographer is a GREAT add on if you absolutely want to have coverage of both partners getting ready, or if the idea of seeing multiple angles on the same moments is something that excites you. Or, if having a second shooter isn’t something you feel super strongly about–that’s okay too! When we meet in person we can go into this in more detail to discuss if this option is right for you!
What is a First Look? Why Should We Do One?
A first look is when the couple chooses to see each other before their wedding ceremony, in a private reveal moment. There are so many great reasons to do a first look. To name only a couple: you get to spend more time together on your wedding day, it ensures a more enjoyable, fun and relaxed experience not only for the two of you but your wedding party and family as well. You still get the big emotional climactic moment of seeing each other for the first time on your wedding day–but the beauty is that you get to have it privately, away from distractions and waving relatives, allowing you to be fully present with each other. When we meet in person I’ll walk you through the experience of a first look, how it works and why it rocks.
What is Your Approach on a Wedding Day?
On the day of your wedding you can expect me to be involved enough that I’m present, helpful, supportive and facilitating in moving the day forward and keeping us on track and on time, but also disappearing into the wallpaper when I need to. I give you enough room to breathe, relax, be present and focused on each other, while also knowing when to step in and provide direction.
We feel funny in front of the camera. How do you get people to look natural?
As you can hopefully tell from my Instagram and Portfolio images, my vision is more natural, intimate and honest. While I don’t do a lot of “posing,” I will give you plenty of direction and prompts to get you not only in the right light, but in the right frame of mind. I like to keep things light and have fun, I’ll get you guys talking and I do my best to make you guys laugh at feel at ease with me. The more you are able to trust me and be willing to let me in, the more able I am to get those beautiful, intimate, honest, natural images.
I don't see any group photos on your IG or blog. Do you do Family Photos?
Absolutely. I always take the necessary “formal” group family photos at every wedding. I always aim to make this part of the day as quick, easy and even a little bit fun! We will budget time for this when we work out your timeline, and on the wedding day I will take charge and direct these groupings for you, allowing you to sit back and enjoy the process!
Do you have smaller coverage options for small weddings?
Big or small, simple or extravagant, I am bringing my A+ game to every wedding photograph. I’ve photographed weddings with over 200+ guests in lavish venues, and simple, intimate weddings with less than 8 people on top of a mountain. Big or small, simple or over the top, yours is the only wedding I am photographing that day, and you get the same level of expertise, skill, creativity and experience! Size and duration of your wedding celebration do not affect rates.
What About Elopements?
Yes! I especially love intimate, private elopements in natural environments like in the woods, on top of a mountain or next to the sea. The one exception to the above rule is for elopements taking place Monday-Thursday. Contact me for more details on weekday elopement services.
What about the business-y stuff?
While the business side of this may not be as fun or sexy, there’s some very real practical and business oriented information you should have from ANY photographer you talk to. I am fully insured (equipment and business liability). My camera bags are loaded down with backup equipment and more CF memory cards than I even know what to do with. Your images are backed up to two external hard drives and a cloud based backup immediately following the wedding. With 10 years full time wedding photography experience, I don’t mess around with this stuff.
Okay. We're in. How do we book?
Enough about me. Let’s talk about you. The first step to begin this adventure together is to fill out an inquiry form, where I ask you for a few basic pieces of information, but also as you for a little fun information about yourselves as well. Once you inquire, we can set up an in-person consultation at my cozy little in-home studio right here in Salem. We will share some wine or tea, and get to know each other. After our meeting I will send you the contract and you’ll be guided through the super easy online booking and payment process. I require ⅓ of your total commission to hold your date.
